And it is precisely in order to solve even this type of situation effectively, and at the same time quickly and economically, that WINKLER has formulated <strong>WINGUM PLUS H2O<\/strong>, a <strong>fiber-reinforced water-based<\/strong> colored <strong>elastomeric liquid waterproofing<\/strong>, recently used to<strong>waterproof<\/strong> the new <strong>roof of<\/strong> a building in <strong>Gorlago<\/strong>, in the province of Bergamo. <\/p>\n<p><!-- divi:heading {\"level\":3} --><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_Gorlago_case_study_challenges_and_successes\"><\/span><strong>The Gorlago case study: challenges and successes<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The problem posed to the designer &#8211; Arch. Silvano Pagani &#8211; and the contractor &#8211; the company Costruzioni Ubbiali Geom. Agostino of Cologno al Serio (BG) &#8211; was to ensure the <strong>watertightness<\/strong> of an unconventional surface conformation. &#8220;In addition to the natural difficulties of a <strong>waterproofing<\/strong> intervention,&#8221; says Arch. Silvano Pagani, &#8220;I had to think about how to create the appropriate <strong>water protection<\/strong> layer, having opted in terms of design for a <strong>roof with an irregular course<\/strong>; a situation therefore in itself more complex to approach than an ordinary flat roof. The need, in short,was to identify a solution that, having discarded the unsuitable classic bitumen-polymer membranes, would on the one hand provide the necessary guarantees of <strong>water tightness<\/strong> and on the other hand allow an easier treatment of the curved surface and the numerous construction details present. After a series of evaluations of the possible options, made in consultation with the contractor, the choice fell on Winkler&#8217;s <strong>Wingum Plus H2O fiber-reinforced elastomeric liquid membrane<\/strong>, which, due to its <strong>resistance to water stagnation<\/strong>, <strong>UV rays<\/strong>, and above all to possible <strong>movements of the substrate<\/strong>, provided all the necessary guarantees in an intervention of this type.&#8221;     <\/p>\n<p><!-- divi:heading {\"level\":3} --><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"WINGUM_PLUS_H2O_features_and_advantages\"><\/span><strong>WINGUM PLUS H2O: features and advantages<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/divi:heading --><\/p>\n<p><strong>Durable, walkable<\/strong> and also suitable for installation on large surfaces subject to tension and movement, WINKLER&#8217;s <strong>WINGUM PLUS H2O<\/strong> is an innovative colored<strong> elastomeric liquid waterproofing<\/strong> product with <strong>a fiber-reinforced water base<\/strong> and high strength and durability performance, created in the WINKLERSAFE researchbed for the development of products and solutions with <strong>low environmental impact.<\/strong> The product combines respect for the environment with important advantages that make it one of the leading solutions for<strong>waterproofing in construction<\/strong>, such as <strong>resistance <\/strong>to the formation of <strong>water stagnation, <\/strong> <strong>weathering <\/strong>and<strong> UV rays,<\/strong><strong> high and low temperatures, <\/strong><strong>abrasion <\/strong>and the harshest conditions of use. <\/p>\n<p>Complying with the guidelines of the European <strong>ETAG 005<\/strong> standard <strong>, WINGUM PLUS H2O<\/strong> is suitable for<strong>waterproofing<\/strong> <strong>roofs, canopies, balconies<\/strong> and<strong> terraces<\/strong> on surfaces with <strong>fiber cement sheets, wood <\/strong>or<strong> OSB<\/strong> <strong>panels <\/strong><strong>, concrete, ceramics, natural stones, metal<\/strong> including oxidizable<strong> metal<\/strong> <strong>, bricks <\/strong>or<strong> bituminous coverings<\/strong>, for restoration or UV protection. In the case of substrates subject to special stresses or on the very large surfaces, the product can be used in combination with the special reinforcing fabric <strong>WINTECHNO MAT<\/strong>, which allows the homogenization of even irregular surfaces and an even higher resistance.\n<\/p>\n<p><!-- divi:heading {\"level\":3} --><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Ease_of_laying_and_treatment_of_details\"><\/span><strong>Ease of laying and treatment of details<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/divi:heading --><\/p>\n<p>Among the advantageous features of <strong>WINGUM PLUS H2O<\/strong> is also counted the <strong>ease of application<\/strong>, which can be done by brush, paintbrush, roller, brush, spatula or airless pump: ready to use without the need to add water or other solvents, it should be applied with temperatures between +5 and +40 \u00b0C on dry and thoroughly clean support, free of dust, friable parts, foreign substances or non-stick, taking care to check for the possible presence of moisture to avoid the formation of flaking or bubbles related to vapor tensions. Once <strong>WINGUM PLUS H2O<\/strong> has been laid, <strong>BC SEAL BAND<\/strong>, a self-adhesive butyl tape self-protected with polypropylene nonwoven, and <strong>WINJOINT BAND<\/strong>, a highly elastic sealing tape, respectively, can be used for any sealing at corners or expansion joints. <\/p>\n<p>In<strong>waterproofing <\/strong>the new <strong>roof <\/strong>particular care was required in treating the most vulnerable <strong>construction details<\/strong> such as <strong>vertical lapels, ridge<\/strong> and <strong>eave<\/strong> <strong>lines<\/strong>, and <strong>emerging bodies<\/strong> such as<strong> chimneys <\/strong>and<strong> skylights<\/strong>, which are often a source of execution errors in the application of traditional prefabricated membranes. On the contrary, the liquid consistency of <strong>WINGUM PLUS H2O<\/strong> and its <strong>excellent workability<\/strong> over a wide range of temperatures greatly facilitated the operators&#8217; task even in the execution of these details. The result is a perfectly sealed <strong>monolithic pavement<\/strong>, which is also characterized by considerable<strong> resistance to foot traffic<\/strong> and wear thanks to the reinforcing fibers dispersed in the product&#8217;s elastomeric matrix. &#8220;In addition to offering all the necessary performance and durability guarantees,&#8221; concludes Arch.
